July 1, 2021, those shopping from online stores and marketplaces located in Northern California will get hit with yet another tax increase, with some areas borderline 11% sales tax. It's difficult to understand why the voters in these cities would vote to increase their taxes in 2020 during a pandemic that put most small business out of business and sent others moving into Arizona and Texas to survive. Much of Northern California is dominated by rich costal dwellers, perhaps a sales tax increase doesn't impact them much, but for everyone who shops online from sellers in those locations, even a little increase hurts.
